The lovely weather has brought everyone out, and my new favorite spot to relax is right in my own back(front) yard. The South Street Seaport is (almost) back up and running; the restaurants are packed spilling into the sidewalks with outdoor seating and puppy-water stops, the bars are bustling, and movies in the park bring chair-and-blanket-toting NYers from all around. Despite a fair amount of construction still littering the streets (making parking a quasi-nightmare), I must say that I am both impressed and very happy to have the neighborhood back to life.
A few food recommendations if you are looking to support the Seaport:

This charming little restaurant bar offers a great (and rather extensive) selection of American/Tex Mex food - the bacon-wrapped jalapeno poppers are a must!

Offering a simple and yet super fresh farm-to-table selection of bakery, breakfast and lunch foods, MFD is perfect for a weekend brunch. Bright sunlight inside or a small outdoor area lend themselves to people-watching in the cobblestoned center of Front Street.
