Ready, Set .... Brimfield!

May 18, 2014

This weekend my family packed up in our van and set forth to Brimfiled, Massachussettes.

This was my second time at the Brimfiled Antique fair, and (since hindsight is 20/20) I came better armed this year with an extra day to shop, more cash (in smaller demoninations) and better, more waterproof boots.

Even so, Brimfield overwhelmed me. stretching a full mile in length and about a mile in width, it is packed with vendors, tents, food  booths, tables, furniture, art, jewelry, clothing, dishware, glassware, cabinetry, lamps, antique arms, sculptures, plants, wood, garden gnomes, lemonade stands, antique salt and pepper shakers, boxes of dusty books and records, Tchotchkes, Baubles, doodads, thingamabobs, gadgets, gizmos, whozits, whatzits and of course PEOPLE. so many people! old and young, new and vetran, everyone at brimfiled has a story and most like to share them. for conversation alone, Brimfield is worth the trip. The entire show is a blur and (to me) a constant panic. There is so much to see, so many vendors to cover and never enough time. I methodically wind up and down the isales and can't bring myself to skip over one person, knowing that if I do, they will have ther perfect --INSERT ITEM HERE-- and I will have missed it!  It's a stressful excitement, but an excitement nonetheless.  Even though it rained (poured) on Friday, Saturday and Sunday boasted  glorious radiating sunshine and i managed to cover the entire fair, even with two dogs occassionally in tow. I left with several bags of goodies, both samples for work and clothing to feed my hungry beast of a spring closet. Another Brimfiled conquered! Can't wait until September...
